The Zaengsters
Zaengle is a web engineering firm that builds for the other side of the screen. We believe #BeNiceDoGood goes a long way. With kindness as our guide, we work with almost all of our clients a long time—in fact, over 90% of our clients have been with us for more than 3 years. We value the work we do, but we value the people we work with more.

Team Repo CommitsPhilip Zaengle
Founder / Chief Executive OfficerPhilip’s greatest childhood loves were LEGO and earning money (by selling soda at baseball games) - two foundational traits of entrepreneurs everywhere. These early interests built Phil’s innate skill for translating business logic to developers and engineering logic to decision-makers. He loves to take a complex business problem and solve it with great code and design that builds solid value. Phil realized early on that he only loved making his clients successful if he was nice and did good work. That’s how Zaengle Corp’s mandate, “Be nice, do good" was born. It’s the heart of what has helped him create success for 70+ clients since 2009.

Jesse Schutt
Lead EngineerJesse is our resident woodworker. This hobby dovetails (see what we did there?) perfectly into his developer skillset. Both are focused on having a vision for the potential, knowing how things fit together, and what tools to use to create the most seamless product. His signature is to find the deeper meaning in a project and the right tool for the job. In his woodshop, that means hand planes, chisels, and mallets; here at Zaengle Corp, he transitions smoothly between frameworks such as Laravel, Vue, or Nuxt, and languages like PHP and javascript. Whether it ends up on your screen or in your hand, Jesse is brilliant at working a concept into a product that is both beautiful and functional.

FixerAmanda is a fixer; she can optimize, streamline and organize just about anything. She spent ten years in the non-profit sector while coaching Philip in all things related to growing a business. These days she spends her time looking for ways to better serve Zaengle's clients, all while improving team culture. As a part-time hobby, she negotiates deals between her Chocolate Lab, Ruby, and three-year-old son, Henry.

Owen Zaengle
EngineerWith a strong background in the sciences, Owen brings a diverse skillset to the Zaengle team. With skills ranging from systems thinking, research methods, and statistical analysis to algae identification, and writing clean, well-tested code, he is the guy you turn to and ask “What’s a 4-letter word for ‘jelly-like algae substance’ ? ”… and if you listen real closely you might hear him say “agar”. Owen has an M.S. in Lake Management and a B.S. in Environmental Science. When he’s not working you can find him chilling with his brilliant wife and their three dogs, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, or maybe even restoring a settlement-era barn.

Chief Business OfficerAs a wee lad (more like a teenager), Jason made trips to Ukraine, Bolivia, and Haiti — from that point on his passion for helping "the good do good better" only grew. Jason studied International Economics and did what every self-respecting economist would do — went into tech. For the past decade, Jason has designed products for Google and Cisco, helped build CodeSchool.com, written two books, and led a prominent software firm. Now, he's focused on building the Zaengleverse. He also lives at the beach (feel sorry for him right?), raises 3 humans (with his wife's help), reps UNC Basketball & FSU Football (yeah, both are in the ACC), and was once a pretty decent swimmer (especially during Shark Week).

Patrick Sheffield
Project AdministratorManaging software development projects requires attention to detail, a good memory, and a bit of business savvy. Patrick brings all three traits to Zaengle as our Project Administrator. He spent eight years working for a PR and marketing agency, the last half of which was devoted to developing their fledgling website department. During that time Patrick came to believe that the key to running successful projects is building relationships with clients, coworkers, and vendors. At Zaengle, he embodies our Be Nice, Do Good philosophy with a blend of buttoned-up professional and southern hospitality.

Marketing & Customer SupportAs a midwest native, Emily brings a touch of ‘Nebraska Nice’ to her customer support role for our SaaS products. Emily previously worked for a web and digital advertising agency, as well as a SaaS company. She has a background in multimedia and education, which she now uses to teach our awesome customers how to get the most out of our products and to help drive marketing efforts. When she’s not behind a computer, Emily can often be found enjoying the outdoors with her husband and two dogs (or as Emily often likes to call them...fur-children), reading, and attempting to keep her houseplants alive.

EngineerLandon is a back-end developer with 6 years experience working in PHP and Ruby on Rails building digital marketing focused service platforms. He enjoys solving puzzles, whether it be a 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle, fitting together applications with APIs, or compiling database reports. Engineering InternLogan is a Junior Engineer at Zaengle hailing from the upper peninsula of Michigan. He's lived in the bleak mid-winter all his life, so it makes sense that he's a Michigan Wolverine fan. Logan collects random useless facts, flies drones, and is Zaengle's resident Rubik's Cube expert.

Rachel Opperman
Junior EngineerWhat happens when you cross years of study in biology and medicine with a degree in computer science? You get someone like Rachel. With a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Biomedical Science, Rachel has a strong background in the sciences that she was intending to put to good use by becoming a doctor. However, 4 knee surgeries and fissures in her cartilage left her pursuing a career in a field that was easier on her knees. She also has an M.S. in Computer Information Systems, and it was during the course of earning that degree that she fell in love with programming. She’s been coding for 2 years and is admittedly a bit of a JavaScript snob, but she’s growing to love PHP as well. When she’s not coding, Rachel can be found quoting The Big Bang Theory or Ace Ventura, reading, solving some kind of puzzle, or learning a new language.
